Laser Refractive Surgery ...The optometrist is one of the most important parts of Laser Vision Correction. During this examination, we determine the exact prescription that will be used by the laser to correct your vision. This prescription is often different than the one you currently wear in your glasses or contact lenses. We need to dilate your eyes using a special eye drop that will relax your muscles and help determine your cycloplegic eye prescription. These are critical measurements. The laser transposes these numbers into seconds of time to achieve the needed vision correction. During this exam, pupil size, corneal topography, eye pressure, and other critical measurements are made to insure that your surgery will be perfect. Soft contact lens wearers must not wear their contact lenses for three days prior to the exam. Rigid Gas Permeable or hard contact lens wearers must have their contact lenses off for 3-4 weeks prior to their exam. (we provide a free fitting of soft contact lenses for those who dont want to wear glasses during this time). After the examination, we will set up an appointment to meet one of our Laser Ophthalmic Surgeons, and schedule your surgery at one of our affiliated laser surgical centers. |
